WEEK 1 (September 19, 2021)

Welcome to Second Grade CCD! Today we began by working on the Sign of the Cross. If you click on this link (The Sign of the Cross ) you can see how to practice!

In your CCD book, look at pages 10 and 11 — are any of these prayers part of the Rosary. Pray them with your family. Also, read chapter 1 and the Bible section at the beginning of your text book (pages 17-21). Please do the activity on page 27 and 3, the chapter review on page 33 and the “Faith in Action” activity on page 34.

For credit for today’s lesson, please have your parents send a photo of your work along with two fun facts about you and one fun fact you learned about the Rosary in the video! These things can be emailed to Jeannine at stroseparishdre@gmail.com.

WEEK 2 (September 26, 2021)

This week we will learn about how we belong to the church in chapter 2 and we will learn about heroes of the church in chapter 3.

To begin, let’s pray the Lord’s Prayer (page 11 in your textbook). You can also pray the Sign of the Cross (see our attachment on week 1 or look at the prayer on page 10.)

Chapter 2 is on pages 37 to 44. Please read through and also do the activities on pages 41, the chapter review on page 43, and the “Faith in Action” activity on page 44.

Chapter 3 is on pages 47 to 54. Please read through and do the activities on pages 51, the chapter review on page 53, and the “Faith in Action” activity on page 54.

We complete our lesson with the Hail Mary prayer on page 10.

Please have your parents email photos of your work!

WEEK 3 (October 3, 2021)

Welcome back, second graders! Today we said the Hail Mary, the Lord’s Prayer, and the the Glory Be. These prayers can be found on pages 10-11 in your textbook. Then we said the Prayer of Sorrows, which is listed below.

Prayer of Sorrows

Beloved Mother, so stricken with grief, help us to bear our own suffering with courage and love so that we may relieve your Sorrowful Heart and that of Jesus. In doing so, may we give glory to God Who gave you and Jesus to humanity. As you suffered, teach us to suffer silently and patiently.

This week, we worked on chapters 4 and 5 (pages 57 to 76)! Please make sure to do all activities (pages 57,61, 69 & 73) as you go and the chapter review (pages 63 & 75) and “faith in action” (pages 64 & 76) at the end of the chapters. We also went to the 11 a.m. Mass and sat with our 8th-grade prayer partners. You can watch this Mass on the St. Rose Church of Girard Facebook Page! WEEK 4 (October 10, 2021)

Pray the Hail Mary, The Lord’s Prayer, the Glory Be, and the Prayer of sorrows. These prayers can be found in the front of your textbook.

Complete chapter 6 in your book, and do all activities, the chapter review and the faith in action. Photograph all of your work.

This week, we work on chapter 8. Reach the chapter through and complete all activies and the activities, the chapter review and the faith in action activity. Pray the Sign of the Cross prayer and the Our Father Prayer. Have a great week!

This week we read a book, “The Tiny Snowflake” by Arthur Ginolfi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nTJ5DF7JZo).

We talked about how God made each of us special, and then we made our own special snowflakes! You can make some like this video shows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhGanHRNJOo. Or you can find a pattern like this & decorate it any way you would like!

WEEK 10 (November 21, 2021)

This week, we begin with the prayers: Hail Mary, the Our Father, the Glory Be, and the Prayer of Sorrows. We worked on chapter 9, and also read the story of creation from Genesis chapter 1 (https://bible.usccb.org/bible/genesis/1). Finally, what are you thankful for this holiday season?

WEEK 11 (December 5, 2021)

This week, we begin with the prayers: Hail Mary, the Our Father, the Glory Be, and the Act of Contrition. We worked on chapter 10. Please do all activities, the chapter review and the faith in action activity. We talked about the blessing of the Advent Wreath and prayers.

WEEK 12 (December 12, 2021)

This week, we begin with the Hail Mary, the Our Father and the Glory Be prayers. Then we read the story “The Ledged of the Poinsettia.”

WEEK 14 (January 9, 2021)

This week we begin with the Hail Mary, the Our Father, the Glory Be, and the Sorrow prayers. We worked on chapter 11 this week. Please do all activities, the chapter review, and the faith in action sections. Read the story of the Epiphany and the Flight into Egypt in a Children’s Bible (Matthew 2). WEEK 15 (January 30, 2021)

This week we begin with the Hail Mary, the Our Father, the Glory Be, and the Sorrow prayers. We worked on chapter 12 this week. WEEK 16 (February 6, 2022)

WEEK 17 (February 13, 2022)

This week we begin with the Hail Mary, the Our Father, the Glory Be, and the Act of Contrition prayers. We worked on chapter 13 and 14 tend of the chapter activities (pages 156 and 159). We also talked about the last week in Jesus’s Divine Mercy and St. Valentine. Work on the “Jesus You are Bread for Us” song!

WEEK 18 (February 27, 2022)

This week we prayed the Rosery with all of our CCD friends! Then, we prepared for the CCD Mass. Today is the Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Check out today’s readings here.

WEEK 19 (March 6, 2022)

This week we begin with the Hail Mary, the Our Father, the Glory Be, and the Prayer of Sorrow. We worked on chapter 15, 16 and 17. Please complete the activities and chapter reviews in these chapters. Also, we saw a piece of Fatima. Work on the “Jesus You are Bread for Us” song!

These are the children who saw the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima. The Miracle of Fatima, also known as the Miracle of the Sun, happened between May and October of 1917. Three shepherd children, Lucia Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto, reported visions of a luminous lady believed to be the Virgin Mary.

WEEK 20 (March 13, 2022)

WEEK 21 (March 20, 2022)

This week we began with the Hail Mary, the Our Father, the Glory Be and the Act of Contrition Prayers. We worked on chapter 20. Please do all activities, the chapter review and the faith in action sections. We also practiced our “Jesus You are Bread for Us” song and how to receive the Eucharist.

WEEK 22 (March 27, 2022)

This week we began with the Hail Mary, the Our Father, the Glory Be and the Act of Contrition Prayers. We completed a First Communion Craft. We also practiced our “Jesus You are Bread for Us” song and how to receive the Eucharist.

WEEK 23 (April 3, 2022)

Today, we talked about First Communion. We practiced receiving the Eucharist. Also, we practiced our “Jesus You are Bread for Us” song. Pray the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Sign of the Cross Prayer.

WEEK 24 (April 10, 2022)

This week, we prayed the Stations of the Cross. We also read “The Proud Tree” and “Jesus Speaks to Me Through the Mass.” We also practiced our Baptismal Promises and the “Jesus You are Bread for Us” song.
